What Indian Hotels' results mean for fund investors
- Index funds. If the company is in an index such as the Nifty 50 or the Nifty Next 50, index funds that track it hold the company in proportion to its weight in the index.
- Active funds. Whether an active fund holds the company, and how much, is in the fund's monthly portfolio disclosure; a single holding rarely moves a diversified fund much.
- One quarter is one data point. Fund returns depend on many holdings and on valuations over years, not on a single results day.
