What WhiteOak Capital Diversified Equity Small Cap Active FOF will invest in
The scheme information document states the objective as: “The primary objective of the scheme is to generate long term capital appreciation by investing in units of equity oriented small cap mutual fund schemes.”
It invests 95–100% in units of small cap equity funds, mainly other fund houses’ schemes, spread across several funds, with up to 5% in debt and money market instruments. Its expense ratio cap includes the charges of the funds it holds.
How it compares with existing domestic fund of funds schemes
- AMFI lists 153 existing domestic fund of funds schemes. They invest in quite different things, so their returns are not compared here.
What to check before investing in this NFO
- The ₹10 price is not a discount. Units start at ₹10 only to set the unit count. Returns depend on how the fund's investments move, in percentage terms, exactly as for an existing fund.
- There is no track record yet. A new fund has no returns of its own to judge. The fund manager's other schemes, and how existing domestic fund of funds schemes have done over several years, are the closest guide.
- Overlap with what you already own. If you already hold domestic fund of funds schemes, or a flexi cap or large cap fund, check how much this fund's likely holdings would repeat them.
- Direct plan and costs. The direct plan pays no distributor commission, so its expense ratio is lower than the regular plan’s. Over many years the difference compounds.
- Exit load. In respect of each purchase / switch-in of units, an Exit Load of 1.00% of applicable NAV is payable if units are redeemed/ switched-out within 1 year from the date of allotment; No Exit Load is payable if Units are redeemed / switched-out after 1 year from the date of allotment.
After the NFO closes
Units are allotted after the offer closes. The fund then publishes a daily NAV and reopens for regular purchases, SIPs and redemptions. Reopens for subscription and redemption within 5 business days of allotment.
Once a fund has a record, Genvest Research shows its returns against its benchmark, volatility and drawdowns.
